Vlad Surdea-Hernea is a Permanent Author at A Path for Europe. His areas of interest include European energy policy, carbon markets and electricity systems.

He is pursuing the Master of Public Policy program at the Hertie School, specializing in climate and energy policy. For his dissertation, he further collaborates with the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Bucharest in Romania, as well as certificates from Sciences Po and the University of Amsterdam in the field of energy policy.

Currently, Vlad works as a policy consultant in Berlin. He previously gained experience through his positions as research assistant at the Hertie School, as well as public policy intern for the Aspen Institute in Romania. Besides his professional activities, Vlad promotes sustainability as a Global Shaper of the World Economic Forum and a Young Leader of YES-Europe.

He is fluent in English and Romanian, his native language, as well as speaking French at an intermediate level and having basic German skills.
