Mattis is permanent author at PfEU. His areas of interested include constitutional law, especially democratic legitimacy and participation, monetary policy and competition law.

He holds a Bachelors degree in Economics and Law from the University of Muenster (Germany) as well as a Masters degree in European Law from the University of Edinburgh (Scotland). He has also passed his first state examination in NRW (Germany). Besides his studies Mattis has been active in various (student) associations focusing on constitutional law, consulting and entrepreneurship and interned at a Cologne (Germany) based law firm specialising on VC transactions and a Bangkok (Thailand) based research institution focusing on comparative constitutional law. Mattis is fluent in English and German and has basic knowledge in French.

As permanent author Mattis will research monetary policy and  will publish articles on a regular basis.
